The National Planning Department in early 2006 began the work of implementing a quality management system based on transparent of processes that would strengthen and enforce a policy of national Government is to have a better been serving the citizens and that it is one of the strategies highlighted in the 2006-2010 National Development Plan .
In November 2007 the certification audit conducted by Bureau Veritas Certification, yielding excellent results and highlight as strengths: management commitment and staff audit, the attitude towards continuous improvement, implementation of computer and its contribution to better management of processes, streamlining activities and management of internal and external communications.
Thus, the National Planning Department DNP obtained the certification of Quality Management System ISO 9001:2000 to all processes having as scope the following: "Guidance for planning medium to long term for economic development, social and environmental development, programming and coordination of public investment and monitoring and evaluation of policies, programs, plans and projects of the national government. "
